If you are near Swissvale, Pennsylvania and are looking to grab a sandwich you need look no further than the Triangle Bar located on the corner of Monongahela and Agnes Street. In fact, if you ask any of the local population where to get a great hoagie, there is only one answer; The Triangle Bar.

The Triangle Bar makes the claim “Our Battleship Sub put Swissvale on the Map”. The local folks will agree. For over 70 years, the Triangle Bar has been serving their legendary Battleship subs. What’s a Battleship sub? The Battleship sub is their best-selling hoagie measuring 24 inches long made fresh while you wait and loaded up to the customer’s specifications. If that size intimidates you, fear not, you can order the Destroyer that measures 12 inches or for very small appetites, the Torpedo at 6 inches. Having a party or get together? Give the Triangle a call and custom order the Super Battleship! Their staff will assist you in determining how many you will need for your group.

Not only is there a size for everyone, there is a hoagie for everyone. Besides their best-selling classic Italian hoagie, they offer specialty hoagies such as roast beef, capicola, ham and turkey to name a few. In the mood for a hot hoagie, the sausage or meatball hoagie loaded with cheese will make you smile. The grilled hoagies include a cheesesteak hoagie, a grilled chicken hoagie and the butcher boy (fried bologna)!

Our table had the meatball, Italian and cheesesteak Destroyer hoagies and we were not disappointed in the quality or quantity of the hoagies. You can even grab a beer at their full-service bar while watching sports on the TVs.

Growing up in that area, I felt nostalgic walking into the Triangle Bar. No matter what time you visit, you will find people sitting at the bar enjoying their sub. I beat the rush and while I was eating, a line formed with the customers waiting patiently for their turn to order. You will probably hear the phone continuously ringing with people calling in the to go orders.

If you are passing through the area, looking to take a drive on a nice day, or feeling nostalgic, the Triangle Bar is an excellent destination. My best advice when visiting…go hungry!
