Pennsylvania’s unique topography, size, and geographic location provides the state with some of the most breathtaking fall foliage in the world. The climate allows for a wide variety of tree and shrub species, which creates a vibrant palette of colors.

On the eastern Allegheny Plateau, you will find Ohio buckeye, bur oak, and shingle oak. Head north to discover species of gray and paper birch, and the mountain ash and maple. Because of Pennsylvania’s size, approximately 46,000 square miles, the viewing season extends throughout the entire month of October, creating the most beautiful and long lasting event in the state.
